Cheap car insurance in Arizona
“Cheap” in Arizona means the lowest price at coverage you would actually want to claim on — not the state minimum by default. Here are the state rules and the real Arizona averages, sourced.
Arizona state notes
Minimum coverage Arizona requires
Arizona law (A.R.S. §28-4009) requires at least 25/50/15 liability coverage: $25,000 bodily injury per person, $50,000 bodily injury per accident, and $15,000 property damage. Driving uninsured in Arizona risks fines, license and registration suspension, and an SR-22 filing requirement. Minimum coverage pays the other driver — it does not repair your own car.
What Arizona drivers actually pay
Experian’s September 2026 analysis puts Arizona’s average premium at $1,927 per year overall, with full coverage averaging $2,521 per year and minimum coverage $1,449 per year. A separate Insurance.com study reports lower figures ($2,333 full coverage, $662 minimum) — averages differ by study because the driver mix and coverage definitions differ. Treat any single average as a reference point, not your price.
Arizona-specific notes
- Same insurer, different state averages: in Insurance.com’s Arizona study, one major carrier’s Arizona full-coverage average ($2,883/yr for State Farm) sat above the national figures quoted for it — a reminder that state and even ZIP code move prices more than brand does.
- Compare at identical limits. A quote at 25/50/15 will always look “cheaper” than one at higher limits. Fix the limits and deductible first, then compare prices.
Start with your own number
Before chasing the cheapest headline, check whether you are overpaying at all: take the 60-second overpay quiz (it uses the Arizona average above if you don’t know your premium). Then see how the national insurers compare on our best auto insurance page, and read the full State Farm profile — Arizona is one of the states where its agent-led model is heavily represented.
