Is Allianz Travel legit?
Short profile: Allianz Travel is the U.S. retail travel brand of Allianz Partners (part of the Allianz Group). Plans are produced and administered by AGA Service Company dba Allianz Partners, based in Richmond, Virginia, and underwritten by BCS Insurance Company or Jefferson Insurance Company depending on state and plan. It sells OneTrip single-trip tiers and AllTrips annual plans with 24/7 assistance.
Verdict: Legit
Allianz Travel is a legitimate travel insurance operation — the U.S. arm of one of the world’s largest insurance groups, with its producer, administrator, and both underwriters named in its own current FAQ, including their differing AM Best grades. Nothing in the evidence raises a legitimacy question. The fit notes: know which underwriter your state and plan put you with, and read the emergency medical limit on the Basic tier before assuming a cheap plan covers the expensive risk. Verdict dated October 23, 2026; we re-check when the underlying evidence changes.
The 5-point evidence checklist
- PassRegistration & identity — The brand’s structure is stated in its own FAQ: Allianz Travel Insurance is a mark of AGA Service Company dba Allianz Partners, the licensed producer and administrator; U.S. headquarters in Richmond, Virginia; part of the Allianz Group; official site allianztravelinsurance.com.
- PassPricing transparency — Plans are priced and purchasable online before you commit, in named tiers (OneTrip Basic/Prime/Premier; AllTrips annual). Benefit limits vary sharply by tier — the transparency is there, but the medical limit on the lowest tier is the number to read, not the headline price.
- Not foundComplaints pattern — Not found in our standard source. The complaint compilation this site uses for every company (CarInsurance.com’s compilation of NAIC data) covers private-passenger auto only, so no comparable index exists for this line in that source. Other compilations publish figures on different bases and disagree with each other; rather than mix bases, we mark this Not found and weigh the rating-agency and market evidence instead.
- Not foundRefund & cancellation terms — We could not find a single public page stating cancellation and refund terms; they live in individual policy documents and state rules. Ask for the cancellation terms in writing before you buy.
- PassIndependent evidence — AM Best ratings for both underwriters as stated in the company’s current FAQ (BCS A (Excellent); Jefferson A+ (Superior)) and the group’s global operating scale corroborate the operation independently. Ratings can change — verify the current rating at AM Best.
Complaints, ratings, and pricing notes
Two research disciplines show on this page. The underwriter ratings come from Allianz’s own current FAQ, because an older third-party plan document in circulation shows superseded grades (BCS A−, Jefferson A) — using the official current source is the correction. And no founding year is printed for the U.S. operation: the only candidate figure was an aggregator’s unverified “2005,” contradicted by the company’s own “nearly 35 years” statement in 2018. A gap is more honest than a guess. Plan dollar limits from a 2026 review compilation are likewise held back pending plan-document verification.
